Nature-Reflection
The exhibition “Naturreflektionen” by Kejoo Park, held from October 28, 2017, to January 26, 2018, at Galerie Rieder, explored the duality of the inner and outer worlds, focusing on the disconnection between humans and nature. Through series such as “Inner Landscapes,” “Lost Landscapes” and “Pause,” Park delved into the concept of nature as both external, existing beyond human creation, and internal, shaped by human creativity and culture.
Urban motifs and architectural elements were central to her portrayal of the external world, expressed through photographs combined with layers of paint and spray motifs to create collages. The interplay between black and white, symbolizing the external and internal, formed a dynamic visual contrast, enhanced by the occasional addition of green, yellow or red. Traditional Asian calligraphy blended with European gestural and abstract acrylic painting, creating a harmonious balance of line, form and space.
